Welcome to my website. I offer two types of products:
- Standard Designs: Ready-made or “made-to-order” items based on my existing catalog.
- Bespoke Commissions: Custom items created specifically to your unique requirements.
Please read through and make sure you understand the terms of the service you wish to use before placing any orders.
Standard Designs Terms & Conditions
1. The Ordering Process
- Standard Designs: A contract is formed when you checkout on the website and receive an order confirmation.
2. Intellectual Property (The Designs)
I retain full ownership of all intellectual property rights for both standard and bespoke designs.
- Ownership: Purchasing a product gives you ownership of the physical item only.
- Rights: I reserve the right to recreate, market, and sell any design—including those developed during a bespoke commission—to other customers.
- Usage: You may not copy, reproduce, or use my designs for commercial purposes without my express written permission.
3. Cancellation & Returns
For Standard Designs:
- Right to Cancel: You have the right to change your mind within 14 days of receiving the item.
- Returns: You must return the item to me in its original, unused condition at your own expense. Once inspected, I will issue a full refund.
4. Delivery & Risk
- All items are sent via Royal Mail Recorded Delivery.
- Risk: Responsibility for the item passes to you once the package is handed to Royal Mail.
- Please ensure the delivery address provided is accurate; I cannot be held responsible for items lost due to incorrect address data.
5. Problems with the Products (Faulty Goods)
I stand by the quality of my work. If an item arrives faulty or is not “as described”:
- Handmade Variations: Please note that for both standard and bespoke items, slight variations in grain, texture, and color are natural characteristics of the materials and my process. These are not considered faults.
- Notification: You must notify me of any structural faults within 14 days of receipt with photo evidence.
- Resolution: If the item is faulty, I will offer to repair it, replace it, or (if neither is possible) provide a refund.
6. Liability & Force Majeure
I am not liable for any delays caused by events outside my control (e.g., postal strikes or material supply chain issues). My total liability to you is limited to the price paid for the product.
7. Personal Information
Your data is used only to fulfil your order. As a Sole Trader, I comply with relevant data protection laws and will never share your details with third parties for marketing purposes.
8. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Bespoke Commission Terms & Conditions of Service
These terms set out how we will work together on your commission. Because I also create custom, bespoke items, these terms are designed to protect both my craft and your purchase.
1. Who I Am
I am Daniel Hazelton, operating as a Sole Trader. You can contact me by email at Dan@dan-designs.co.uk or by phone on 07392578800.
2. The Commission Process & Contract
A contract is formed between us only when I have confirmed your order in writing and received your initial deposit.
- Step 1 (Design): You pay a 40% design fee. I then create the visuals for your project.
- Step 2 (Materials): Once you approve the design, you pay a further 40% material fee.
- Step 3 (Completion): I will send you photos of the finished item. Once you approve these, you pay the final 20% balance.
- Step 4 (Delivery): After the final balance is cleared, I will dispatch your item.
3. Price and Payment
- All prices are quoted in British Pounds £ (GBP).
- Payments must be made via a myPOS payment request or Bank Transfer.
- Work will not commence or move to the next stage until the relevant payment has been received in full.
4. Intellectual Property (The Design)
I am a creator, and my designs are my livelihood.
- Ownership: I retain full ownership of all intellectual property rights, including the design, sketches, and techniques used to create your item.
- Rights: When you buy a product, you are buying the physical item only. I reserve the right to recreate the same or similar designs for other customers or for display in my portfolio/social media.
- Usage: You may not copy, reproduce, or use my designs for commercial purposes without my express written permission.
5. Cancellation & Refunds
Because my work is bespoke (custom-made to your specifications), standard “cooling-off” periods do not apply.
- Your Right to Cancel: You may cancel the commission at any stage.
- Non-Refundable Payments: If you cancel, any money already paid is non-refundable.
- If you cancel after the design stage, the 40% design fee is kept to cover my time.
- If you cancel after materials are purchased, the combined 80% is kept to cover time and costs.
- Final Sale: Once the final 20% is paid and the item is delivered, the sale is final. No refunds or returns are accepted unless the item is technically faulty.
6. Delivery & Risk
- I use Royal Mail Recorded Delivery for all shipped products.
- Risk: Responsibility for the item passes to you once I hand the package to Royal Mail.
- Damage in Transit: If your item arrives damaged, please contact me within 24 hours with photos of the packaging and the product so I can assist with a Royal Mail claim.
7. Problems with the Services & Your Legal Rights
I take immense pride in the quality of my craftsmanship. However, if there is a problem with your order, here is how we will resolve it:
- Conformance to Design: Because every item is handmade, there may be slight variations in finish, grain, or color compared to the digital photos or initial sketches. These are characteristics of a handcrafted product and are not considered “defects.”
- Reporting a Fault: If you believe the item is structurally faulty or does not match the final approved design, you must notify me within 14 days of receipt. Please provide:
- A clear description of the issue.
- High-resolution photos of the fault.
- The Resolution Process: If the item is found to be faulty or not as described:
- Repair/Replacement: In the first instance, I reserve the right to repair the item or provide a replacement that matches the original design.
- Shipping Costs: If I ask you to return the item for inspection/repair, I will cover the cost of the Royal Mail return shipping, provided the item is found to be faulty.
- What is Not Covered: I cannot offer repairs, refunds, or replacements for:
- Damage through misuse: Accidental damage, neglect, or “wear and tear” after the item has been delivered.
- Customer Error: Issues arising from incorrect information provided by you (e.g., wrong measurements provided during the design stage).
- Nature of Materials: Natural changes in materials (such as wood movement or metal patina) that occur over time due to the environment of your home.
8. Personal Information
I only use your personal information (name, address, email) to process your order and deliver your item. As a Sole Trader, I comply with relevant data protection laws and will never share your details with third parties for marketing purposes.
9. Liability & Force Majeure
I am not liable for any delays caused by events outside my control (e.g., postal strikes or material supply chain issues). My total liability to you is limited to the price paid for the product.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
